Hello, I’m Dr. Amina!

I care for children and adults living with complex, often unexplained health concerns  the ones that don't fit into a fifteen-minute appointment. Drawing on both scientific evidence and clinical experience, I combine conventional and integrative medicine to build care around you. My work is to listen closely, connect the patterns, and help you finally understand what's happening in your body.

A peek into my story

I was born and raised in the Bay Area, the daughter of Afghan immigrants. I knew I wanted to become a doctor from a very young age  and, as my mom will tell you, I never really changed my mind.

Like many who enter medicine, I once imagined a traditional path. What ultimately shaped my direction was something far more personal.

When my mother went through cancer treatment, I witnessed the impact of integrating conventional and alternative approaches. I saw how care changed when both systems worked together instead of in opposition  and how much steadier and more supported healing could feel.

What stayed with me wasn’t any single treatment, but the way her care team listened, stayed curious, and used every available tool. That experience reshaped how I understood medicine and the kind of Doctor I wanted to become.

Years later, that perspective became deeply personal. I’ve lived with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, navigating dismissal, uncertainty, and interventions that didn’t bring relief. Being told everything is “normal” while your lived experience says otherwise changes how you approach care. It taught me what complex illness actually requires: time, curiosity, and a willingness to keep looking when the answers aren't obvious. This work isn't theoretical for me it's lived.

Training & Clinical Focus

After experiencing the impact of integrative medicine firsthand, I pursued a path of training that aligned with this philosophy. I earned a Master of Public Health from Loma Linda University, where my work in global health included teaching biointensive gardening and community-based wellness programs for children in the Philippines. I then completed my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, followed by a competitive AANMC-accredited residency in integrative neurology, with advanced training in caring for patients with complex chronic, neuroimmune, and inflammatory illnesses.

Today, my practice is dedicated to caring for children and adults with complex health concerns that have often left them feeling unheard, misunderstood, or without answers. Whether you're seeking care for yourself or your child, I take the time to understand your full story, identify the underlying factors contributing to your symptoms, and partner with you to create a clear path forward one that brings greater clarity, confidence, and hope.

Beyond the Clinic

In addition to my clinical practice, I serve on the board of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association, where I advocate for the growth and recognition of naturopathic medicine in California.

Outside the clinic, you'll usually find me hiking, lifting heavy in the gym, enjoying live music, and embracing the San Francisco lifestyle with my beloved husband. I cherish time with my family and friends, who keep me grounded and remind me of what matters most.

About Noor

Noor(نور) means light — a word that lives in Dari and Pashto, the languages of my Afghan heritage, and carries something quiet and beloved in each. I named this practice for it because the work of medicine, at its best, is illumination: sitting with someone’s story long enough to see what’s actually there, and bringing what has been hidden into the light so it can finally be understood.

Healing is rarely loud. More often, it happens in small moments of clarity, safety, and recognition of the gradual turning on of lights after a long period of darkness. That is the kind of care I came here to do.

What makes NOOR different
